|Biography & Genealogy:||Jesse Irvine Dickinson, Class of 1867: New Market Cadet; Private, Co. D. Genealogy: Born- April 25, 1848 in Prince Edward Co., Va. Father- Asa D. Dickinson; Mother- Sallie Cabell Irvine. Pat. Grandfather- Robert Dickinson; Pat. Grandmother- Mary Purnell Dupuy. Mat. Grandfather- Jesse Irvine; Mat. Grandmother- Clementina Cabell. Never married, no children. Military Record: entered VMI on Jan. 22, 1864 as a Private in D Company; fought with Corps of Cadets at New Market where he was Wounded in Action (leg); briefly with Corps at Richmond in the early fall of 1864, but left when academic work resumed; appointed Cadet in the Confederate Army from the 5th Congressional District of Virginia on March 25, 1865; war ended before he could report for duty. Post War Career: At Hampden-Sydney College in 1867; moved to Texas in 1884; farmer. Career: Farmer. Died- October 12, 1929; buried in the State Cemetery at Austin, Texas (Section: Confederate Field, Section 1 Row:V Number:32 )|
