Biography & Genealogy:Lewis Stuart Davis, Class of 1867: New Market Cadet; Private, Co. C. Genealogy: Born- April 17, 1849, at Greenup, Kentucky. Father- Colonel James Ward Davis; Mother- Margaret Stuart. Pat. Grandfather- George Naylor Davis; Pat. Grandmother- Harriet Bragg. Mat. Grandfather- Lewis Stuart; Mat. Grandmother- Sarah (last name unknown). Married- Helen Lewis. No Children. Matriculated from Lewisburg, WV. At VMI 1 year. Military Record: entered VMI on Aug. 5, 1863; served as a Private with Company C of the Corps of Cadets at New Market, but attached to an artillery detachmet; youngest cadet at New Market; left VMI in June or July of 1864; unofficial source says he served with a cavalry regiment (probably 14th Virginia Cavalry) but no official record of any post-VMI service found. Post War Career: Briefly remained at VMI; Grazier. Died- June 14, 1901.
