Biography & Genealogy: | James C. Crane, Class of 1867: Born- ca. 1845. Matriculated from Charles Town, WVa. At VMI 2 months. Military Record: Left VMI on Oct. 28, 1863, and enlisted on Feb. 1, 1864, at Timberville, Va., for 2 years or war. Private, Co. B, 12th Va. Cavalry. Wounded in action (unofficial source says at Todd's Tavern on May 5 or 6, 1864.) In hospital in Staunton, Va. Unofficial source says he was captured there in June 1864. Paroled at Winchester, Va., on Arpil 19, 1865. Post War Career: Farmer. Married Nellie Leith in 1873. Moved to Mo. in 1880. Methodist Episcopalian Church South. Died- July 8, 1920, in Exeter, Mo. |
