Military Record: Enlisted 16 October 1863 at Chaffin's Bluff for war as Pvt, Capt A.J. Jones's Company, Virginia Heavy Artillery (Capt R.T. Ellett's Company; Pamunkey Artillery.) ($50 bounty). captured at Slayer's Creek 6 April 1865. Held at Point Lookout, MD. Released on oath 23 June 1865. Post War Career: Farmer, Merchant, Public Official. Registrar, Newport News Magisterial District. Reported in 1899 to be "in comfortable circumstances as a good Confederate soldier deserves." Dies-25 April 1926. |
