Biography & Genealogy:	Col. Harry Lumsden Hodges was Commandant at VMI from 1915-1917. According to our records, he was born at Norfolk, VA on May 2, 1880. His parents were Harry Hodges and Martha Ann Peters. His paternal grandparents were Samuel H. Hodges & Emily Nash (both of Norfolk); his maternal grandparents were John Peters & Ann Brown (also from Norfolk/Norfolk Co.). He was a 1902 graduate of West Point and a career army officer. He married Addie Williams Bowe, daughter of Nathaniel W. Bowe of Richmond, VA, on November 4, 1903. Children living in 1916 were Evelyn Bowe, Harry Nash, & Judith Pleasants. Col. Hodges died at Richmond, VA on Nov. 28, 1921, aged 41.
