Military Record, Civil War: served as a Private in Capt. R. M. Anderson's Company of Virginia Light Artillery (1st Company, Richmond Howitzers). Career: farmer, then a merchant in Washington, DC. Marriage: Rachel Clagett of Upper Marlboro, MD, in 1890; she was the daughter of Thomas Clagett; Children living in 1910: 1. Julia 2. Rachel 3. Charles James, Jr. 4. Lee (female).
