|Biography & Genealogy:||Wilmer Hodgson, Class of 1866: Genealogy: Born- ca. 1847. Father- Joseph Hodgson; Mother- Ann Pound(?) No information on grandparents. Married- Alice Woodruff of Grayson Co. Va. on Oct. 2, 1904. No records on whether or not he had children. VMI Record: Entered VMI- July 22, 1862; Dropped from rolls after going A.W.O.L. on Sept. 1, 1862. Graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1867 then studied in New York, Germany, and Great Britain. Military Record: Unofficial source says he served with "Forrest's Cavarlry"; May have been the "Wilmer Hodgson" whose only record shows him paroled April 1865 as a member of "Martin's Battery" which may have been a clerical error for Capt. J. W. Morton's Tennessee Battery. Careers: Physician practicing in New York and New Jersey until 1888 when he moved to Roanoke, Va. to practice there. Elected a member of Roanoke City council in 1898. Ran a drugstore in Roanoke in the early 1900's. During a small pox epidemic in Roanoke he was appointed by the city to take charge of the situation. Died- July 15, 1908 in Roanoke, Va.|
