Biography & Genealogy:	Gibson Edwin, Class of 1866: Born- June 26, 1847. Matriculated from Culpeper, Va. At VMI 1 year, entered as a sophomore. Military Record: Enlisted June 18, 1861 at Sperryville for 1 year in Company D, 49th Va. 1st Sergeant summer of 1861. Elected 2nd Lt November 18, 1861. Election set aside by Secretary of War probably because of his youth. Elected 1st Lt April 3, 1862. To VMI. January-August 12, 1864 Assistant Quatermaster, 49th Va. Joined Company D, Col J.S. Mosby's Regiment Va Cavalry (43rd Battalion Va Cavalry). Only record is his name on 4th quarter of 1864 clothing receipt. Post War Career: Lawyer; farmer. Died- August 1869 of a snakebite.
