Grandfather- John Clinedinst; Pat. Grandmother- Martha C. Clinedinst. Mat. Grandfather- Joseph South; Mat. Grandmother- Jane M. South. Married- Emily Gertrude Waters of Baltimore, Md. In 1888. Children- 1- Mrs. H.C. Elling (Josephine ?); 2- Wendel W. Clinedinst. VMI Record: Entered- Aug. 23, 1876; Left after 2 years, did not graduate. Careers: Artist. Painted "The Battle of New Market" which now hangs Jackson Memorial Hall at VMI; studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris; Professor of the Art School of the Metropolitan Museum; Director of the Women's School of Applied Design of New York City, the School of Illustration and the Drexel Institute of Philadelphia. Awarded the Evans Prize of the American Water Color Society in 1900. Died- Sept. 12, 1931 in Pawling, NY.|
