|Biography & Genealogy:||Trout Erasmus Stribling, Class of 1865; 1864-MS: Born- April 15, 1844. Matriculated from Staunton, Va. At VMI 8 months over 2 years (repeated freshman year). Military Record: At VMI May 18, 1861-June 28, 1862. Dismissed for neglect of duty. Enlisted summer 1862 as Private, Company H, 52nd Virginia. Acting Sgt Maj at Cedar Mountain where he won high praise. To 2nd Lt March 13, 1863 (date of rank December 6, 1862). Absent sick July 3-October 6, 1863. (Unofficial source says wounded in action at Gettysburg). To 1st Lt December 19, 1863. In hospital (Richmond) May 1864 (pneumonia). To Capt May 30, 1864. Submitted resignation February 15, 1865, but name appears on Appomattox parole roster. Post War Career: Druggist. Died- October 20, 1866 from "consumption" and effects of military service. Buried in Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton.|
