|Biography & Genealogy:||Joseph Graham Morrison, Class of 1865: Born- 1843. Matriculated from Lincoln County, North Carolina. At VMI 7 months over 2 years. Military Record: Unofficial source says volunteered with forces on North Carolina coast 1861 (if so, probably state position.) No official record of such service found. At VMI January 14-July 21, 1862. Appointed 1st Lt and Aide-de-camp on staff of Maj Gen (later Lt Gen) T.J. "Stonewall" Jackson July 31, 1862 (date of rank July 25). Aide-de-camp and Acting Assistant Adjutant General until appointment vacated by Jackson's death. Horse killed in action when Jackson wounded in action at Chancellorsville. Helped carry Jackson to ambulence after his wound. Sent by Jackson to bring Mrs. Jackson to the wounded general. Volunteer Aide-de-camp on staff of Brig Gen (later Maj Gen) S.D. Ramsuer summer 1863. Appointed Adjutant 57th North Carolina August 1, 1863. To Captain, Company F at unknown date. Wounded in action (lost left foot) near Drewry's Bluff to May 16, 1864. Post War Career: Married Jennie Dowin (?) 1872. Represented Lincoln County in North Carolina House of Representatives 1881. Cotton mill operator; public official. Died- April 11, 1906.|
