Grandfather- William McCormick; Pat. Grandmother- Elizabeth Rice. Mat. Grandfather- William Moss; Mat. Grandmother- unknown. No information on whether he was married or had children. VMI Record: Entered VMI- Jan. 1, 1862; Dropped from rolls July 2, 1862 after failing to return from furlough. Military Record: Enlisted at Berryville July 25, 1862 for 3 years as Private, Company D, 6th Virginia Cavalry. Wounded in action fall 1863. In hospital (Charlottesville). Extended enlistment for the war February 9, 1864. In hospital (Petersburg) August 1864 (dysentery). On March 22, 1865 roll as scout for Maj. Gen. F. Lee. Paroled at Winchester April 15, 1865. Post War Career: Lawyer. Died- May 12, 1871 when he fell from a window. Buried at Grace Episcopal Church, Berryville, Va.|
