Unofficial source says at North Carolina Military Institute before entering VMI. Military Record: Appointed 2nd Lt, Company H, 55th North Carolina October 1, 1861. To VMI. Left VMI June 1862 to regjoin regiment. To 1st Lt, Company C March 10, 1863. Slightly Wounded in Action (scalp) May 1, 1863 near Suffolk. Wounded in Action (thigh) July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg. To Captain, Company H, (date of rank July 1, 1863). Seems to have spent most of 1864-65 in hospital (Danville, Richmond) (chronic diarrhea, debilitis, "February Remitteus"). Post War Career: lawyer; farmer. "Name as "G.W. Lillington" when entering VMI. Died- December 19, 1921 |
