Biography & Genealogy: | Charles Grandison Feild, Jr., Class of 1865: Born- ca. 1846. Matriculated from Okalona, Mississippi. At VMI 1 month. Military Record: entered VMI Jan. 9, 1862; suspended for "intoxication" on Jan. 28, 1862; dismissed on Feb. 14, 1862; identification uncertain, but may have been Private, Company B, 17th Battalion of Mississippi Cavalry on duty at Headquarters of Brigadier General D. Ruggles in late 1863 (only record shows he was paid 40 cents per day from Oct. 31 to Dec. 31, 1863 for the use of his horse); unofficial source says VMI man served as Lieutenant on staff of Brigadier General S.W. Ferguson. Post War Career: cotton business. Died- Nov. 18, 1903 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. |
