Practiced law in Fredericksburg, VA from 1849 until the winter of 1860-1861; lawyer and judge in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1865 until his retirement; served in Louisiana legislature; Member, VMI Board of Visitors, 1860. Marriage: Fanny Dulany Tomlin, 1850. Issue- Conway, Fanny, Richard, Mary, Rebecca, Landon, Nancy. Civil War record: Private, L. M. Nutt's Company Louisiana Cavalry; Staff officer, Maj. Gen. C. J.
