Grandmother- Martha Norvell. Mat. Grandfather- Sampson Blincoe; Mat. Grandmother- Martha Jones. Not married, no children. VMI Record: Entered VMI- May 25, 1861; Trained for five weeks in Military Science and Tactics before joining the Confederate Army. Military Record: Enlisted July 26, 1861 at Camp Clifton as Corporal for Co. D, 47th Va.; Elected 1st Lieut. April 30, 1862; Promoted to Captain May 1, 1864; Mortally wounded in action at Gaines's Mill. Died- Aug. 29, 1862 from wounds received at Gaines's Mill.
