Biography & Genealogy:	John Tyler Redwood, Class of 1864-MS: Born- April 13, 1841. Matriculated from Mobile, Alabama. At VMI 4 weeks. At UVa 1860-61. Military Record: May have been the 20 year old student who at Camp Stephens on June 22, 1861 enlisted as Private, Company I, 4th Virginia and was transferred out of the regiment to an unknown unit July 27, 1861. At unknown date VMI man became Private, Company H, 1st Virginia Artillery (Capt C.F.Johnston's Company, Albemarle artillery). Mortally wounded in action June 27, 1862 at Gaines's Mill and died following amputation of foot. Died- July 8, 1862. Buried Stockoe Cemetery, Richmond.
