|Biography & Genealogy:||Lewis Carter Randolph, Class of 1864-MS): Born- June 1838. Matriculated from Carter's Bridge. At VMI 5 weeks. At UVa 1855-58 (studied medicine 1857-58). Military Record: Identification not certain, but may have been the man who entered service summer 1861 as 2nd Lt, Company I, 46th Virginia and was captured February 8, 1862 at Roanoke Island. Exchanged August 2, 1862. Appointed Surgeon October 14, 1862 (date of rank September 9) and assigned to 63rd North Carolina (5th North Carolina Cavalry). Often served in brigade hospitals in Garysburg, Kinston, and Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Transferred December 1863. By April 1864 was Surgeon 9th Virginia Cavalry. Post war Career: Farmer; physician. Died- May 29, 1887.|
