Biography & Genealogy: | Robert Scott Pearce, Class of 1864-MS: Born- June 16, 1837. Matriculated from Richmond, Va. At VMI 4 weeks. At UVa 1857-61. Military Record: Drill Master at Richmond. Sick late 1861 through early 1862. Appointed 2nd Lt, Capt V.J. Clutter's Company Virginia Light Artillery (Company B, 31st Battalion Virginia Light Artillery; Capt M. Johnson's Company Virginia Light Artillery) March 22, 1862. Paid $250 for horse killed at Gaines's Mill. On furlough Jan-Feb 1863. Commanding the battery when Mortally Wounded In Action May 23, 1864 near Hanover Junction (now Doswell). Died- Hanover Junction May 24, 1864. His wife died in Richmond May 24, 1864 after illness, and he went into his last babttle knowing that her death was probably imminent. |
