Biography & Genealogy:William Wardlow Minor Jr., Class of 1864-MS: Born- February 2, 1840. Matriculated from Charlottesville, Va. At VMI 4 weeks. At UVa 1857-61. Unofficial source says in student volunteer company at UVa 1861. Military Record: 1st Lt (Provisional Army of Virginia ?) July 16, 1861. Elected 1st Lt, Company H, 57th Virginia July 22, 1861 at Charlottesville and entered service for 1 year. Not re-elected at re-organization May 7, 1862. Relieved from duty May 18. Conscript in 1864. Name appears as clerk, Assistant Adjutant General Office, Headquarters, Department West Virginia and Eastern Tennessee November 1864 with recommendation by medical board that he perform light duty. (No unit listed). Unofficial source says served in Department West Virginia and Eastern Tennessee as ordnance officer. No official record of such service found. Married Mary Elizabeth Howe 1864. Post War Career: Farmer. Presbyterian. Died- Novembber 15, 1927.
