Military Record: Enlisted July 6, 1861 at Charlottesville for 1 year as Private, Capt C.F. Johmston's Company Virginia Light Artillery (Albemarle Artillery; Capt J.W. Wyatt's Company Virginia Light Artillery; Cmpany H, 1st Virginia Artillery). Detailed November-December 1861 to make gun carriages. Detailed December 2, 1861 to drill artillery at Yorktown. Corporal on January-February 1862 roll. In hospital (Richmond) May 1862 (debility). In hospital (Goldsboro, North Carolina) February-April 1863. Sergeant on July-August 1863 roll. Sentenced by court martial May 26, 1864 to forfeit most pay. Private on May-June 1864 roll. Wounded in action (probably right shoulder) at Cold Harbor June 3, 1864. In hospital (Richmond).
