No information about Pat. Grandparents. Mat. Grandfather- Dr. James Minor; Mat. Grandmother- unknown. Never married, no children. Education: Attended Albemarle Military Academy and University of Va. 1856-60. VMI Record: Entered VMI- May 14, 1861 in VMI's Military Science School, which trained cadets in Military Science and Tactics only; Resigned June 13, 1861 to join the C.S.A. Civil War Record: Organized what became Co. H of 57th Va. Infantry and elected its Captain; entered service with his company at Charlottesville, Va. July 22, 1861; On court martial duty Nov. 1861- Jan. 1862; Promoted to Lt. Col Oct. 31, 1862; Promoted to Col. Jan. 12, 1863; Mortally wounded in chest at Gettysburg July 3, 1863; Captured and taken to U.S. Hospital where he died at an unknown date. Died- shortly after July 3, 1863. In Oct. 1863 his body was taken to Richmond under a flag of truce by his fraternity brothers (Epsilon Alpha) and buried at "Glenmore" in Albemarle Co. Va. |
