Grandparents-no information; Marriage-in 1842 to Sarah Elizabeth Rebeck of Jonesville, VA. Children- Felicia, Margaret, Edward (d. 1884), Alice (d. 1886), 2 died in infancy. VMI record: Entered VMI on Nov. 11, 1839 from Lee Co., VA; resigned June 8, 1841 (reason not given). Military Record: One of 15 VMI Alumni who served in the Union forces during the Civil War; was in process of organizing a Missouri Infantry unit (9th) when he was killed by bushwhackers in July 1861. Career: Lawyer & politician; he and his wife left Virginia and settled at Danville, Montgomery Co., Missouri, circa 1843; he set up his legal practice there; active in Masons; served in state legislature. Died 1861 July 28; buried Danville, MO, Gregory Cemetery. |
