Military Record: Volunteer Aide-de-Camp on staff of his relative Brigadier General (later Major General) J.P. Anderson from Dec. 28, 1862 to Sep. 1863; promoted to Captain (probably temporary) in January of 1863; commended for conduct at Stones River and Chickamauga; all volunteer aides ordered to join active units, so he enlisted Nov. 7, 1863 at Missionary Ridge, Tennessee for 90 days as a Private 5th Company, Washington (Louisiana) Artillery of New Orleans; later extended term of enlistment for the durration of the war; appointed 2d Lieutenant, 9th Battalion Mississippi Sharpshooters on Feb. 12, 1864 (date of rank Jan. 25); transfer effected Mar. 22, 1864; often commanded company and sometimes battalion in 1864; reported to have died soon after the war in Louisiana.
