|Biography & Genealogy:||Albert Davidson, Class of 1864MS. Born- Dec. 25, 1841. Parents: James Dorman Davidson, a lawyer in Lexington VA (b. 1808 d. 1882) and Hannah McC. Greenlee of Rockbridge Co., VA (b. 1812 d. 1889). Matriculated from Lexington, VA. At VMI 6 weeks after attending UVA from 1860-61. Military Record: Enlisted Mar. 1, 1862 at Richmond as a Sergeant with Capt. T.A. Brander's Company of Virginia Light Artillery, Provisional Army of Virginia (Capt G. Davidson's Company; Letcher Artillery); promoted to 2d Lieutenant on July 3, 1862; all subsequent records indicate he served as Drillmaster for the camp of instruction in Dublin; mortally wounded in action on Apr. 9, 1865 in Southwest Virginia; brother of Charles A. Davidson, Class of 1860. Died- May 6, 1865 in Lexington, VA.|
