Biography & Genealogy: | Edmund Pendleton. Class of 1842. Genealogy: Born Sept. 29, 1823, Amherst Co., VA; Father- Micajah Pendleton (a doctor). Mother- Louisa Jane Davis; Marriage- Cornelia M. Morgan, m. 1845 Feb 13, in Cincinnati; children- Elizabeth (Mrs. Walter Coles), William Wood (VMI Class of 1867), Ephraim Morgan (VMI Class of 1877). VMI record: Entered VMI Nov. 11, 1839 from Buchanan, VA; graduated July 4, 1842 standing 5th out of 16 graduates. Military Record: Civil War-Colonel, 3rd Louisiana Battalion(unit later became 15th LA Regiment). Career: lawyer, politician (VA state legislature/Senate, 1869-1871); studied law and practiced in Cincinnati OH during 1850's; moved to New Orleans prior to war. After Civil War lived in Lexington, VA. Died July 26, 1899, Lexington, VA. Other information: VMI Board of Visitors, 1870-1873. He wrote an article for the 1896 VMI yearbook entitled "Early Days at VMI." |
