Biography & Genealogy: | Born Sept 25, 1906, Clay City, KY. Father: Edgar Boone McGlone, born Carter County KY Feb. 6, 1882. A lumberman (Peers & McGlone Co.) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Mother: Stella Wilson, born April 1882 in Morehead, KY. Daughter of Dr. Jere Wilson. Entered VMI Sept. 1926 from Pine Bluff Ark. And was graduated June 1930 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. While at VMI his nickname was "Smokey," and he participated in rat basketball and baseball, and varsity basketball. After leaving VMI he held several jobs during the early 1930's, including steel worker, construction foreman, oil business, file clerk for Reconstruction Finance Corporation in Washington DC. From 1933-to at least 1936 was an engineer with the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation. In 1940-1942 he was working as an engineer for Standard Oil Company (San Francisco headquarters). From Sept. 1942 to Nov. 1945 he served as a Major in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves. Postwar: President, Boltz Manufacturing Company, Inc., Bastrop, Louisiana. Died Feb. 22, 1960 while traveling in California. Buried Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff AR. Survived by a widow (name unknown), one sister (Mrs. Thompson K. Hamilton) and 4 nephews, all living in Bastrop, LA. He did not have any children. |
