Grandfather- Alfred Wood; Pat. Grandmother- Tabitha Ligon. Mat. Grandfather- Dr. Philip Turner Southall; Mat. Grandmother- Elizabeth Webster. Married- Emma Pride on Feb. 16, 1876. Children: 1- Richard Henry Wood; 2- Julia Pride Wood Southall, who married Rev. S.O. Southall (probably a cousin); 3- Philip Southall Wood (Jr.) 4- Lucy Henry Wood. Entered VMI- Jan. 28, 1864; Resigned Jan. 14, 1865 to join the Confederate Army; Made Honorary Graduate of the Class of 1867 July 4, 1869. Civil War Service: Fought with the Corps of Cadets as Private in Co. A during the Battle of New Market May 15, 1864; Joined the C.S.A Jan. 14, 1865 and was probably the P.S. Wood who served as Private in Co. G of the 1st Va. Cavalry. This man was listed as parloled Apr. 26, 1865 at Burkeville Junction. Careers: Lawyer; Commonwealth Attorney for Amelia Co. 1869-84.
