VMI Record: Entered VMI- March 3, 1864; Resigned Jan. 28, 1865 to join C.S.A.; Made Honorary Graduate of the Class of 1867 on July 4, 1875. Civil War Record: Fought in the Battle of New Market May 15, 1864 as Private in Co. D. of the VMI Corps of Cadets; Joined Co. D. 1st Va. Cavalry (may have been a part of this company before entering VMI). Careers: Cotton Planter in Crittenden Co. Ark.; Appointed to fill a vacancy in Sheriff's office by the Governor of Ark. 1878; Elected Sheriff in 1878 and 1880. Died- April 2, 1881 near Marion, Crittenden Co. Ark. Killed while attempting to make an arrest. Buried at Old Glade Cem. in Washington Co., Va.
