Biography & Genealogy: | Jacob Peck Imboden, Class of 1867. New Market Cadet. Born- Sept. 15, 1846 at Christians Creek Farm in Augusta Co. Va. Father- George Imboden; Mother- Isabella Wünderlich. Pat. Grandfather- John Imboden; Pat. Grandmother- unknown. Mat. Grandfather- Daniel Wünderlich; Mat. Grandmother- Susan Saunders. Married- 1st- Johnnie Meems of Kentucky; 2nd- Anna Stuart Dickenson of West Virginia. Children- 1- Frank Bliss Imboden; 2- George Howard Imboden; 3- Gertrude Imboden. Entered VMI- March 21, 1864; Resigned 3 Months later to join the Confedrates; Made Honorary Graduate of the Class of 1867 on Jan. 16, 1875. Civil War Service- Fought with his VMI classmates in the Battle of New Market on May 15, 1864 as a private in Co. D; afterwards enlisted as private in Col. John S. Mosby's Regt. of the 43rd Battalion Va. Cavalry. Post War Career- Mining Engineer Died- Dec. 5, 1899 in Honduras. Killed while trying to protect a friend from being shot by a native Honduran. |
