Grandfather- William Wood; Pat. Grandmother- Jane Jeter. Mat. Grandfather- John James Flournoy; Mat. Grandmother- Nancy Cabell. Married- 1st- Mary Wood (probably a cousin) in 1869; 2nd- Sallie Morton in 1878. Children- 1- (by 1st wife) Cabell S. Wood; 2- (by 2nd wife) Mary Wood, who married Henry Harris; 3- Edna S. Wood, who married Horlaw H. Savage; 4- Henry Wood; 5- Sallie Seddon Wood; 6- Kathryne Rives Wood; 7- William Wallace Wood. VMI Record: Entered VMI- Aug. 18, 1860; Dismissed March 27, 1861 for neglect of duty. Civil War Record: Helped organize and elected 2nd Lieut. of a Va. company attached to the 2nd NC Battalion as Co. C in July, 1861; Captured at Roanoke Island Feb. 8, 1862; Paroled at Elizabeth City, NC Feb. 21, 1862 and exchanged in Aug. 1862; Elected Captain Sept. 25, 1862; In Nov. 1862 his company became Co. G of the 59th Va. Infantry; unofficial source states that he was slightly wounded in the head at the Crater and also wounded in action at Sayler's Creek; Paroled May 12, 1865. Careers: Commonwealth's attorney in Charlotte Co.; Judge in Mecklenburg Co. 1874-80. Died- Dec. 3, 1921.|
