Biography & Genealogy:	William Eliza Savage, Class of 1864: Born- c1842. Matriculated from Canton, Mississippi. At VMI 9 1/2 months. Military Record: Drill Master, Richmond and Harper's Ferry spring 1861. Left June 1861 for service in North Carolina. Wrote VMI September 20, 1861 that he would not return to school. Identification uncertain, but may have been the "William E. Savage" who enlisted May 16, 1862 in Bertie County, North Carolina as Private, Company K, 41st North Carolina (3rd North Carolina Cavalry). PAF through October 1864. Paroled Goldsboro, North Carolina 1865. Post War Career: Merchant. Died- 1881 in Tarboro, North Carolina.
