Biography & Genealogy:Waverly Rowlett, Class of 1864: Genealogy: Born- ca. 1844 in Petersburg, Va. Father- John Rowlett; Mother- Mary Vaughan. No information on grandparents. Never married, no children. VMI Record: Entered VMI- July 24, 1860; Dismissed June 30, 1862 for excessive demerits. Military Record: Served as Drill Master for VMI Corps of Cadets in the Spring of 1861; Enlisted Aug. 26, 1861 at Camp Cook for one year as Private in Co. E, 3rd Va. Infantry; Promoted to Sgt. Maj. in late 1861; Discharged Jan. 27, 1862 to return to VMI; Dismissed from VMI June 30, 1862; May have transferred to Co L, 62nd Georgia Cavalry on Sept. 1, 1863; This company became Co. D, 8th Confederate States Cavalry and then Co. I, 24th Va. Cavalry. Signed Parole May 1, 1865 at Farmville, Va. On May 16, 1865 list of paroled POW's in Richmond, Va. Careers: Unknown. Died- ca. 1867.

The database currently includes the names of all enrolled students (both graduates and non-graduates) from VMI's opening in 1839 through the World War II era.
