Unofficial source says present at the hanging of John Brown as member of Fincastle Rifles. Military Record: Left on guard at VMI April 1861; then served as Drill Master. Enlisted August 1, 1862 at Fincastle for 3 years as Private, Company C, 2nd Virginia Cavalry. Corporal on March-April 1863 roll. Unofficial source says courier for Maj Gen J.E.B. Stuart May 1863. Private on Nov-December 1863 roll. Unofficial source says captured near Cashtown, Pennsylvania July 1863 (Gettysburg Campaign) but escaped. Same source says Wounded in action at Trevillian Station June 10, 1864. Post War Career: Farmer. Died- November 20, 1921.|
