Mat. Grandfather- John Ambler; Mat. Grandmother- Lucy Marshall. Married- 1st- Annie Patterson McCew, daughter of Dr. J.B. McCew; 2nd- Blanche Trenillion, daughter of Capt. C.B. Trenillion. Children- (From 1st Marriage) 1- Gabriella Brooke Moncure; 2- James Dunlop Moncure; 3- William Patterson Moncure; (From 2nd Marriage) 4- Blanche Elbert Moncure; 5- Henry Trenillion Moncure; 6- Mary Cary Moncure. VMI Record: Entered VMI- Oct. 4, 1860; left after one year to join Confederate States Army; made Honorary Graduate of the Class of 1864 on July 2, 1869. Cavalry; Paroled at Ashland, Va. May 2, 1865. Careers: Physician. Adjutant faculty at Medical College of Virginia; Superintendent of Eastern Lunatic Asylum in 1884.
