Biography & Genealogy: | Edward Bonner Maddux, Class of 1864: Born- Juy 19, 1841. Matriculated from Jonesboro, Va. At VMI 1 year. Military Record: Drill Master, Richmond spring 1861. Unofficial source says enlisted in 8th Virginia in 1862 and served 4 months. Employed substitute and went home to care for widowed mother and sister. (His brothers were in the army.) Conscripted in 1863 but exempt under the "15-Negro law." Drafted again in 1865 but war ended as he was about to eave home. No official record found. Post War Career: Farmer. Married Lucy M. Bagley. Died- April 30, 1919 Blackstone, Va. Buried Norbon Hill Cemetery there. |
