Biography & Genealogy:	Gregg James Harvey, Class of 1864: Born- June 25, 1844. Matriculated from Marshall, Tx. At VMI 1 year. Left on guard at VMI April 1861. Military Career: Enlisted at Fort Smith, Ar July 27, 1861 for 1 year as Private, Company A, 3rd Tx Cavalry ("South Kansas-Texas Regiment"). Dischareged June 14, 1862, "Exempt by Conscript Act" (probably because of age). Enlisted in same regiment October 1, 1862 at Camp Rogres, Ms. October 1863 roll (last on file) shows present for duty. Unofficial source says drowned in Black River (Al) in line of duty. Died- 1863.
