Biography & Genealogy: | Cyrus Benton Coiner, Class of 1864: Born- January 31, 1843. Matriculated from Fishersville, VA, 1860; at VMI for 1 year. Military Record: Drillmaster in Richmond during spring 1861. Enlisted 2 August 1861 for 1 year in Company G, 52nd Virginia. Elected 1st Lt on 1 May 1862. Commanding company when wounded in action (in the head) on 18 May 1864 in Spotsylvania. Returned to duty on July 4. Made Capt 2 December 1864. Commanded regiment early 1865. Escaped before surrender at Appomattox. Paroled at Staunton 15 May 1865. Post War Career: Farmer; Stock raiser. Marriages: 1- Fannie B. Miller. 2. Alice Watson 3- Carrie Smith 4- Maria Carrington Dabney. Died- 8 April 1919; buried at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church near Fishersville. |
