Biography & Genealogy:Nathaniel Henry Christian, Class of 1864: Born- Nov. 22, 1843. Matriculated from Lynchburg, Va. At VMI 2 years. Military Record: Drill Master, Richmond, Va., Spring 1861, then assigned as cadet Drill Master to 2nd NC (later 12th NC). Unofficial source says commissioned Lt. in NC state service. At VMI early 1862, then left to help raise what became Co. C, 39th Battalion Va. Cavalry, in which he was elected Sgt. when he formally joined the unit on Sep. 15, 1862, in Lynchburg, Va. With unit until paroled in Appomattox. Post Career Record: "Commercial Traveller". Lived in Lynchburg, Va., and Rockbridge Co., Va. To Memphis, Tn., and in 1877, on to Gavelston, Tx.
