Unofficial source says then Drill Master, 42nd Va. Enlisted Aug. 15, 1862, at Richmond, Va., for 1 year as Private, Capt T. J. Kirkpatrick's Co. Va. Light Artillery (Amherst, Artillery). Applied for commission on Nov. 29, 1862. Discharged Feb. 1863, having furnished substitute. Enlisted Feb. 1, 1864, in Fauquier Co., Va, as Private, Co. C, Col J. S. Mosby's Regiment Va. Cavalry (43rd Battalion Va. Cavalry). Signed oath May 17, 1864, at Charlottesville, Va. Post War Career: Merchant; farmer; tobacco manufacturer; cement business. Died- July 12, 1915.
