Stetson (given name unknown) VMI Record: Entered VMI- April 19, 1861; Resigned May 13, 1861 at his guardian's request. Civil War Record: Enlisted Aug. 20, 1862 as Private in Co. H, 14th WV Infantry (originally 14th Va. USA); Promoted to Sgt. Mar. 12, 1863; moved to Co. K in spring of 1863; promoted to 1st Sgt. Aug. 17, 1863; promoted to regimental Sgt. Major Nov. 3, 1864; promoted to 2nd Lieut. Jan. 16, 1865, but this was later revoked because his company was too small; promoted to 2nd Lieut. March 25, 1865; Mustered out June 27, 1865 at Cumberland, Md. Careers: Printer; farmer. Died- Dec. 27, 1923 in Morgantown, W. Va. at the home of his daughter Mrs. Moore.|
