Resigned from school on April 30, 1861. Enlisted for 1 year on May 21, 1861, at Alexandria, Va. Private, Co. K, 6th Va. Cavalry. Sick in hospital in Lynchburg, Va. July to August, 1863. Detailed November-December, 1863, as courier for Brigadier General L. L. Lomax. Killed in Action. Died- May 7, 1864, killed in action near Spotsylvania Court House.
