Father- Albertus Boggess of Harrison Co. Va. ; Mother- Anne Wood of Harrison Co. Va. Pat. Grandfather- Samuel Boggess; Pat. Grandmother- Elizabeth D'Arcy of Maryland. Mat. Grandfather- Benjamin Wood; Mat. Grandmother- unknown. Married- Nannie Elizabeth Shivers, daughter of Dr. O .L. Shivers of Marion, Ala. on July 11, 1877. Children- 1- Albert Boggess; 2- Annie Lou Boggess, who became Mrs. J. F. Kimball; 3- O. S. Boggess; 4- John Wood Boggess; 5- Robert Woodfin Boggess. VMI Record: Entered VMI- July 30, 1860; Graduated June 27, 1864 ranking 10th in a class of 14. Military Record: 2nd Lieut. in Co. C of the VMI Corps of Cadets who fought in the Battle of New Market, May 15, 1864; after graduating, joined Confederate Army and appointed 2nd Lt. and Drill Master on Aug. 1, 1864; on list of POW's as Lt. in 5th Battalion Va. Reserves.; signed parole May 18, 1865 in Staunton, Va. Careers: Received a Master's Degree from an unknown school; moved to Texas in 1866; Professor of Math, Engineering and Astronomy at Baylor University, 1870-73 and 1885-91. Died- Dec. 13, 1891.|
