Biography & Genealogy: | Francis Sprigg Scott, Class of 1863: Born- ? Matriculated from Nashville, Tn. At VMI 1 year. Military Record: Escaped June 5, 1861 at Knoxville, Tn for 2 years as Private in unit that became Company B, 2nd (Col B.W. Duke's) Kentucky Cavalry. November-December 1862 roll shows him detailed to artillery. Transferred at unknown date to Capt E.P. Byrne's Battery, Kentucky Artillery. Captured Juy 26, 1863 at Salineville, Ohio on Brig Gen J.H. Morgan's Ohio raid. Held at Camp Chase, Ohio and Camp Douglas, Illinois. Escaped via Canada and Nassau. In Richmond March 15, 1864 when he was paid $130 for May 1, 1863-February 29, 1864. As Private joined Company B, 1st Louisiana cavalry at unknown date. Surrendered at Citronelle, Al May 4, 1865. Paroled May 12, 1865 at Gainesville, Al. Post War Career: ? Died- 1867 in Helena, Arkansas of cholera. |
