Biography & Genealogy:	John Chandler Niemeyer, Class of 1863: Born- October 5, 1842. Matriculated from Abingdon, Va. At VMI 1 year. Military Record: Enlisted April 20, 1861 at Port for 3 years in Company K, 9th Virginia. Corporal on November-December 1861 roll. Sergeant on May-June 1862 roll. 1st Sergeant on July-August 1862 roll. Elected 2nd Lieutenant, Company I, August 13, 1862. To 1st Lieutenant October 2, 1862. On leave February 1863. Killed in Action Gettysburg in Pickett's Charge--"just before reaching the famous stone wall." Died- July 3, 1863 Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
