Biography & Genealogy: | James Monroe Love, Class of 1863: Born- December 1843. Matriculated from Fairfax County Court House, Va. At VMI 2 years. Military Career: Drill Master, Richmond spring 1861. Enlisted March 15, 1862 at Warenton as Private, Company H, 4th Virginia Cavalry. Captured in Fauquier County late 1862. Exchanged or escaped. Wounded in Action (lost arm) October 11, 1863 at Stevensburg. Unofficial sources say returned to duty and detailed to brigade commissary. Paroled April 29, 1865 at Winchester. Post War Career: Studied law with father. Admitted to bar in Fairfax County. Commonwealth's attorney 1870-1897 when appointed judge. On VMI Board of Visitors 1889-1897. Died- June 12, 1933. |
