Military Record: Enlisted May 20, 1861 at Botetourt Springs for 1 year in Company E, 28th Va. Appointed 1st Lt July 1, 1861. In hospital (Charlottesville) August-September 1861 (billious fever). In hospital (Danville, Lynchburg) January 1862. At unknown date enlisted as Private, Capt C.B. Griffin's Company Virigina Light Artillery (Salem Flying Artillery). Wounded in action (lower right leg) at unknown date. Detailed for duty with medical department 1863-64. Paroled at Appomattox. Post War Career: Farmer; merchant. Died- New Castle, Va October 3, 1901. |
