Grandmother- Anne Botts. No information on Mat. Grandparents. Married- Sallie Menefee Dennis, daughter of Richard H. Dennis of Culpeper, Va. Children- 1- William Nalle, Jr.; 2- Adrian Nalle; 3- Adrian Nalle Campbell, who married Ivanhoe Campbell; 4- Owen Nalle; 4- Lillian Nalle. Entered VMI- July 8, 1867; Graduated- July 4, 1872 standing 34th in a class of 35. Military/War Service- Joined the Virginia Volunteers as Captain of Co. B of the Third Regtiment Infantry on July 28, 1879. Promoted to Major Apr. 2, 1882; To Lt. Col. Aug. 6, 1884 and to Col. Nov. 15, 1888. He served as a Col. during the Spanish-American War; he was later promoted to General and put in command of the First Brigade of Va. Jan. 8, 1894. He left military service at the beginning of 1906. Career- Civil Engineer, worked in the engineering corps of several large railroads; Farmer in later years. Died- July 30, 1911. |
