Grandmother- Sarah Anne Eyre of Herion Co. Va. Married- Martha Rutherford, daughter of Samuel J. Rutherford of Richmond, Va. in 1868. Children- 1- Mary Rutherford Harvie; 2- Fanny Anderson Harvie; 3- John Brockenboro Harvie; 4- Martha Ald Harvie; 5- Lewis Edwin Harvie; 6- Sadie Rutherford Harvie; 7- Jane Meade Harvie; 8- Ellen Blair Harvie; 9- S. Civil War Record- Served as Drill Master for the VMI Corps of Cadets while stationed in Richmond, Va. in the spring of 1861; Enlisted May 13, 1862 as Private in Co. E. of the 4th Va. Cavalry; Discharged from that position Nov. 20, 1862; Meanwhile appointed 2nd Lt. and Drill Master on staff of Brig. Gen. B.H. Robertson Oct. 31, 1862; Captured July 4, 1863 on retreat from Gettysburg. Held at Johnson's Island, Oh.; Exchanged in the fall of 1864; Assigned to staff of J.B. Hood, probably for duty with Inspector General, Army of Tenn.; ordered to report to Inspector General's Office in Richmond Jan. 1865 when Gen. Hood was relieved; On list of paroled troops at Greensboro, NC May 1, 1865. Careers- Physician; Studied medicine at the Medical College of Virginia 1865-67; Settled at the Lodge in Amelia Co. Va. where he practiced medicine until Jan. 1871, then he moved to Danville, Va. where he remained the rest of his life. Died- June 16, 1918 in Danville, Va.|
