|Biography & Genealogy:||Garnett Jenifer, Class of 1863: Born- January 25, 1842. Matriculated from Montague, Virginia. At VMI 1 year (entered as a sophomore). MIlitary Record: Drill Master, Rich Spring 1861. Enlisted November 7, 1861 at Camp Saluda for 1 year as Private, Company F, 9th Virginia Cavalry. Captured April 29 or 30, 1863 at Richards Ford while courier. Exchanged May 23, 1863. Often absent or sick 1863-64. Captured at Amelia Court House April 4, 1865. Held at Point Lookout, Maryland. Released on oath June 20, 1865. Post War Career: Physician. 5'9 1/2", dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair. Unofficial sourse says he attended Medical College of Virginia 1865-67. Knights of Pythias. Brother of Garnett, Griffin Taylor, Class of 1867. Died- Died in Richmond, Va. of stomach cancer December 2, 1885.|
